THE IMPORTANCE OF VOCABULARY INSTRUCTION IN IMPROVING COMMUNICATIVE AND ACADEMIC SKILLS

Vocabulary instruction plays an essential role in the development of learners’ communicative and academic competence. This article examines how systematic vocabulary teaching supports learners’ ability to understand and use language effectively. It highlights the impact of vocabulary knowledge on listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills, as well as on academic performance. The article emphasizes the importance of explicit and planned vocabulary instruction in language classrooms. It concludes that vocabulary teaching should be considered a core component of language education to promote effective communication and academic success.
