The article examines the functional and semantic features of metaphorical expressions and dual-interpretation elements in a comparative perspective based on Tajik, Russian, and English language materials. The study analyzes the mechanisms of nuclear metaphor functioning, metaphorical expressions, and implications arising in the process of semantic unfolding of the text. Particular attention is paid to dual-interpretation elements that simultaneously reflect the features of both the signified and the signifier, ensuring the semantic duality of metaphor and textual cohesion. Based on the analysis of literary texts, the research identifies both universal and language-specific features of metaphorization in languages of different systems. The study concludes that the functional-semantic investigation of metaphor is of considerable importance for the further development of comparative linguistics, text theory, and interpretation of literary discourse.
