Abstract

The expansion of the Russian Empire into Central Asia in the nineteenth century significantly transformed the political and social landscape of the region. Among the local leaders who resisted imperial domination was Abdulmalik Tura, a prominent figure who played an important role in the resistance movement. This article examines the struggle of Abdulmalik Tura against the Russian imperial expansion and analyzes the historical context, strategies, and outcomes of his resistance. Using historical sources and scholarly literature, the study highlights Abdulmalik Tura’s role in mobilizing local forces and defending regional autonomy. The findings demonstrate that his resistance reflected broader socio-political tensions and contributed to the legacy of anti-colonial movements in Central Asia. The study also emphasizes the importance of understanding regional resistance leaders in the broader narrative of imperial expansion and local opposition.
