Abstract

The rapid diffusion of digital technologies has significantly transformed regional development strategies worldwide. Within this context, the Smart City concept has emerged as an integrated framework aimed at improving economic efficiency, sustainability, and quality of life through digital infrastructure and data-driven governance. Smart Tourism, as a key application of the Smart City paradigm, leverages advanced information and communication technologies to enhance destination management, tourist experiences, and value creation processes. This article examines the impact of Smart Tourism development based on the Smart City concept on regional economic growth. Using a theoretical and analytical approach grounded in regional economics and tourism development theory, the study identifies key economic channels through which Smart Tourism influences regional competitiveness, employment, productivity, and sustainability. The findings suggest that Smart Tourism functions as a strategic driver of inclusive and sustainable regional economic development, provided that appropriate institutional and technological conditions are in place.
