Abstract

The relationship between cultural identity and language learning has become increasingly important in the era of globalization and intercultural communication. This study explores how cultural identity influences learners’ motivation and language acquisition. Cultural identity shapes learners’ attitudes, beliefs, and perceptions regarding the target language and culture, which in turn affects their willingness to engage in language learning activities. The study employs a qualitative research methodology based on a review of relevant literature in the fields of applied linguistics, second language acquisition, and intercultural communication. The findings indicate that learners with a strong and positive cultural identity demonstrate higher levels of motivation and are more successful in acquiring foreign languages. Furthermore, cultural awareness promotes intercultural competence and enhances communication skills. The study concludes that integrating cultural elements into language education can improve both motivation and language-learning outcomes.
